FPC Circuit Board Welding Procedure


At present, There are two FPC welding procedure ways, one is tin press presses welding, and the other is manual trailing welding.

It is generally recommended to use tin press presses welding, the advantages are welding flat, less virtual welding and short circuit phenomenon. The disadvantages are high cost, and plate design should be considered component layout. The below we mainly introduce the related technology of manual trailing welding:

Manual trailing welding is the manual usage of soldering iron and tin wire together. For FPC welding, it is recommend to use OKi soldering iron and a tin wire.

The main sequence of FPC welding is: FPC paste alignment - send tin drag welding - visual inspection - electrical detection.


FPC paste alignment: Before pasting the alignment, check whether the FPC pad and the corresponding solder surface are flat and oxidized.

Notice : After the paste is applied, the pad should be exposed with a line of about 1.00 mm to facilitate the soldering.

Main control time and location
1. Time: Before soldering, the soldering iron tin must be stay 2-3s on the soldering pad, so that FPC and the soldering pad got fully heat, which can effectively prevent virtual welding;
2. location: The angle between the soldering iron and the golden finger is about 30 degrees.

There are mainly four points about control Tin welding :
1. Time: Generally, the recommended time is 3S/ soldering tip length, about 4-10s;
2. Temperature: 290-310 degrees Celsius;
3, the position of the tin: It is better with the soldering iron tip biased to the pad.
4. Strength: When the soldering iron tip comes into contact with the component, the pressure should be slightly applied to prevent the golden finger from causing damage.



External Assessment:
1. The tin point is curved inward;
2, the tin point should be complete, smooth, no pinholes, no rosin stains;
3, There should be stitching feet, and the length of stitching feet should be within 1mm;
4, FPC shape can be seen that the mobility of tin is good;
5. The entire FPC foot should be surrounded by Tin.
