Patch Resistor FAQ

1. The resistance value of the chip resistor and the capacitance value of the chip capacitor are both represented by a combination of numbers and “R”. For example, 3 ohm is represented by 3R0, 10 ohm is represented by 100, and 100 ohm is represented by 101, that is, "R" means the point ".", and the "1" after the single digit of 101 means 1 with 0. For example, 102 represents 10000.

2, the number and letter on the resistance is the resistance value, R002 means 0.002 ohm, 180 means 18 ohm.

3, how to distinguish the resistance and capacitance of the patch, because there is a white font on the resistor, so the background color should be black except for the corner, and there is no font on the capacitor, there will be no black color, because there is Black is easy to cause misunderstanding that the capacitor is oxidized.

SMD resistor accuracy naming method

Chip resistor resistance error accuracy is ±1%, ±2%, ±5%, ±10% accuracy, the most commonly used is ±1% and ±5%,

The rule of ±5% precision is to use three digits to represent the example 512. The first two digits are significant digits, the third digit 2 indicates how many zeros, the basic unit is Ω, which is 5100 ohms, 1000 Ω = 1 KΩ, 1000000 Ω. =1MΩ
In order to distinguish ± 5%, ± 1% of the resistance, then ±1% of the resistance is mostly expressed by 4 digits.
Thus the first three digits represent the significant digits, and the fourth digit indicates how many zeros are 4531, which is 4530Ω, which is equal to 4.53KΩ.
