PCBA processing no-clean welding technology

The traditional PCBA cleaning process has a great destructive effect on the environment, and the no-clean soldering technology has become the best way to solve this problem. No-clean welding includes two techniques. One is to use no-clean flux with low solid content; the other is to perform welding in an inert protective gas. For the first method, the flux activity is only effective for a certain period of time, and it cannot ensure acquisition of weld seam, sometimes produces welding defects such as bridging, projection, and spots, so its application field is limited, and further research is needed. For the second method, welding is performed in an inert gas, which can eliminate the oxidized environment of the welding part during the welding process, so that the use of flux can be reduced or eliminated. Only a small amount of weakly active flux can be used to remove oxides on the surface of the welding part and maintain it until it enters an inert gas environment, or after certain treatment of component leads, PCBA no-clean soldering can be achieved.

The no-clean soldering process is not only suitable for the welding of through-hole plug-in components, hybrid assembly components and full-surface assembly components, but also for the assembly of multi-lead fine-pitch components. The following advantages are shown in these applications.

1. For double wave soldering process, due to the use of less or no flux, the welding defects caused by the flux gas are eliminated, and the clogging of the nozzle is eliminated, which improves the stability of wave soldering and is conducive to obtaining high quality welding connection.

2. The PCBA cleaning process and corresponding equipment have been eliminated, greatly reducing the operating cost.
3. Since the oxidation of solder and soldering parts is eliminated, solder wettability and solderability of soldering parts are improved, thereby minimizing soldering defects, greatly improving soldering quality, and ensuring soldering reliability of components.

Therefore, the no-clean welding technology is a very valuable practical technology, and its popularization and application have very important practical significance in terms of technology, economic benefits, and protection of the human living environment.
